 Looking for a stab at your 15 minutes of fame? A new Facebook community group has been launched exclusively for gay male models, actors, broadcasters, photographers, designers, musicians - in fact, anyone working in the entertainment industry.
The aim is to give members more closely targeted networking opportunities and a platform for showcasing their skills to a wide range of people within the same general sphere of interest. For example, there are times when musicians need photographers, or actors, models, or designers, and not just other musicians. Likewise, there are times when actors might need to linkup with photographers or musicians, rather than others in the film or theatre industry. Broadcasters, film producers, and writers often need them all, whether for interviews or working on particular projects.
The group is a closed one, with membership by online application, subject to review and approval. The group already has over 50 members from around the world and is growing by the day.
Members are able to showcase and advertise their skills and interests using the usual pages for images and videos and there will be regular items of useful information about forthcoming castings and other similar openings and opportunities.
The group is already forming strategic partnerships with other organisations within the broad entertainment industry.
The project is the brainchild of Matthew John, of Olympus Productions, a UK company working in the film industry which has often needed to source actors, models, photographers, designers, and a whole range of different skills.
Matt said: "I got fed up with having to go to lots of different kinds of sites looking for the kind of people I needed, and that's what gave me the idea.
"If this group grows internationally as I hope it will, then members will be able to link up with the skills they need under one roof, wherever in the world they might need to be," he added.
"For example, we've got a large gay movie project in Greece next year, and for that we're going to need to source a number of different people for different jobs in that country. We'll be able to advertise the jobs through the group as well as browse the available talent and make approaches. And so will everyone else."
