 On a cold day in hell…April 25, 2007 to be exact, investigators conducting an all out here we come ready or not drug search, entered Michael Vick’s home in Surry County. What they found were 66 dogs, some injured and an assortment of paraphernalia used in dog fighting.
They discovered items ranging from rape stands (which holds a dog in place for mating against their free will), drugs to amplify aggression, a bloody fight pit and “breadsticks” an instrument used to pry open a dog’s mouth. This magnificent dog estate, where all these atrocities against Man’s Best Friend were committed, was appropriately named “ the Bad Newz Kennels.” Hmmmmm...the jerks couldn’t even spell…Of course Vick...the sick fink…knew nothing about dog fighting. He pointed fingers at everyone and their mothers and ran like a coward for cover!
You, the reader, cannot possibly have had your head out of the sand and not have heard or seen this drama unfold. This event even escalated to the Senate, as Senator Robert Byrd condemned dog fighting as Barbaric! So with this in mind, let me not be redundant and I’ll simplify it for you in a nut shell.
The S. O. B., on Monday the 20th, finally copped a plea agreement in Federal court as he was left with no other alternative, given the fact that the he received a federal indictment and the other defendants were to testify against him. His defense counsel, Billy Martin, read a public apology from Vick. This flabbergasted statement, in which he basically apologized to everyone who has been hurt by this matter… was probably written by attorney Martin’s receptionists. Where’s the apology to all those tortured Pitt Bulls and other dogs used for baiting? To the one’s awaiting their death sentence as soon as they are no longer needed for evidentiary purposes.
This detachment from reality and cold approach by Vick and his entourage of legal clowns clearly makes the indictment. Prosecutors will most likely sentence Vick to a sugar coated 18 months prison time, although the terms are still shaky. Frankly...I’m shocked! Less than one year in prison time for being charged with conspiracy to travel in interstate commerce in aid of unlawful activities and conspiracy to sponsor a dog in an animal fighting enterprise. Just these felony offenses carry up to 5 years in prison and a $250,000.00 fine. Never mind admitting to hanging, strangling, mutilating, beating, drowning, torturing, and electrocuting dogs.
The co-defendants have explicitly explained in detail, how one particular dog was slammed against the ground until dead. He should’ve being convicted to the full extent of the law and there should have been a no-lenience stand taken. I don’t give a damn how many touch downs he scored! He should also undergo psychological counseling, barred from ever owning or living alongside animals to any degree and to actually work and get his little dainty hands dirty cleaning kennels. His plea hearing is set for August 27.
Now here’s the kicker…this plea agreement only applies to his federal case. The fact that Vick pled guilty in Federal Court, does not affect the state’s case. See, in Virginia, he is also charged with an array of interesting felonies. He even has a different attorney there at the state level, Daniel Meachum and now Lawrence Hunter Woodward, Jr. The prosecutor at the state level is Gerald Poindexter. They want to prosecute Vick on felony charges. The state is still completing its investigation (get real…). Even the federal witnesses are in federal protection programs! The drama …unfolds…
 This “has been” NFL Falcon quarterback, was condemned by the NFL and his peers. He was barred from the Falcons camp. His Psychiatric profile as Criminologists view is that such intense violent behavior is a precursor to future violence. Animal cruelty is a key trait in the American Psychiatric Association profile for conduct disorders. Even the FBI identifies animal cruelty as a stage for on going and escalating violence. Hey….with this in mind...do you really want this sorry guy as a mentor for the youth?
There are still on going discoveries being made, investigations taking place and so on and so on…what gets to me is the fact that the real victims in this horrendous ordeal have being given a death blow. They will be put to death as soon as the circus leaves town. No chance for modifying their behavior with animal behavior specialists and trainers. All the money being spent defending 4 idiots and not a penny towards saving these poor animals lives! For they are the true victims, the scarred ones…the tortured ones… Man’s Best Friend.
Mr. Vick, I hope, upon your entering prison, there will be an inmate to greet you…holding a breadstick…leading you into a rape stand and calling you his Bitch! To all the Pits out there…God speed…and to paraphrase a John Lennon song… “all we are saying…is give Pitts a chance…”
